Spring showers bring showy flowers. But the rains also bring out the wildlife! A Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret have been hunting on the Trail, probably looking for gophers and rodents which may be more active after rain (our guess). The Heron has been hanging around near Rancho Road, so take a look as you walk by. It seems acclimated to people walking nearby. You will also see raptors, the most common being a Red Tail Hawk, who can be spotted most days cruising or perched on light poles.
