The L.A. Times calls The Monarch Trail "tenacious testimony to the power of neighborhood activism." The story in early April 2024 by LAT reporter Jeanette Marantos profiles 18 sites around L.A. and Orange County where volunteers can help restore native-plant habitats. "Tenacious," because of of all the neighbors and activists in and around HB who fought to perserve the rare naturalized open space here on the north side of HB that is now The Monarch Nature Trail.

See the story here, which includes maps and descriptions of all the 18 native-plant plant restoration projects that welcome volunteers.
